Starting July 31, 2017, Airmen undergoing their annual Periodic Health Assessment may notice something new. A Mental Health Assessment will now be part of every annual PHA, to help ensure that Airmen suffering from undiagnosed mental health issues are referred to the necessary care. Laughlin XL Spouses Club has awarded $10,000 in scholarships to 17 applicants across the San Felipe CISD school district this year. Students from Laughlin, Del Rio, and Comstock received aid through the program, pushing them towards higher education.

A class of 30 Civil Air Partol cadets graduated from a week-long immersion course at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, June 16, 2017. Cadets in the Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training Familiarization Course experienced a condensed version of what actual pilot trainees at Laughlin go through in their 52-week training.
