Laughlin makes history

LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Have you ever found yourself searching for historical or statistical information about Laughlin Air Force Base and felt hopeless? Well, the search is over thanks to Laughlin's wing historian who developed a new website dedicated to Laughlin's history.

Mr. Todd Schroeder, 47th Flying Training Wing historian, spent countless hours developing the site for Laughlin members.

"I tried putting everything that I thought people might need one day on this site," said Mr. Schroeder. "I even added links to other history sites like the National Archives and the Air Force Enlisted Heritage Research Institute."

The site (https://sps.laughlin.af.mil/History%20Office/default.aspx) contains basic historical information like the chronology of the 47th FTW, a list of former commanders, photos that date back to the 1950s and much more.

"Most people have never even heard about this website and I'm really eager to get the word out about it," said Mr. Schroeder. "It's a very useful site with an abundance of information that most don't know about Laughlin."

Another useful and interesting part of the website that Mr. Schroeder suggests Laughlin members visit is the statistical data link. The stat page includes numbers of graduates, number of hours flown, aircraft fleet size and more.

"I hope this really helps anyone that needs or wants Laughlin historical information'" said Mr. Schroeder.

There's also a portion of the site for feedback of any kind. For details contact Mr. Todd Schroeder at todd.schroeder@Laughlin.af.mil or 298-5420.
