Base fitness center hosts Valentine 5k run/walk

LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Base members and other participants from the local community gathered Feb. 10 to partake in the Valentine 5K run/walk organized by the Losano Fitness Center.

The event was open to everyone and organized to accommodate different age brackets. All brackets were open to both men and women. Bracket 1 consisted of people ages 16 to 17; Bracket 2 were people of ages 18 to 29; Bracket 3 were people of ages 30 to 39, and the last bracket were people 40 years and above.

The winners in each category are:
Men's category:
Bracket 1
1st place winner: Chui Ordaz; 19 minutes, 31 seconds
2nd place winner: Jonathan Morales; 19 minutes, 49 seconds

Bracket 2
1st place winner: 2nd Lt. William Walker, 84th FTS; 22 minutes, 49 seconds
2nd place winner: 2nd Lt. Benjamin Chapman, 84th FTS; 24 minutes, 12 seconds
3rd place winner: 2nd Lt. Donald Frey, 84th FTS, with 28 minutes, 13 seconds

Bracket 3
1st place winner: 2nd Lt. Eric Davison, 47th OSS; 23 minutes, 28 seconds
2nd place winner: Rick Guajardo, 47th FTW; 25 minutes, 6 seconds
3rd place winner: Maj. Steve Sprowls, 86th FTS; 28 minutes, 59 seconds

Bracket 4
1st place winner: Maj. Gary Loader, 96th FTS; 30 minutes, 10 seconds
2nd place winner: Ray Squyres; 49 minutes, 37 seconds

In the women's category, there are no participants in Bracket 1.
Bracket 2
1st place winner: 2nd Lt. Nicole Shanks, 86th FTS; 24 minutes, 24 seconds
2nd place winner: 2nd Lt. Priscilla Giddings, 87th FTS; 25 minutes, 39 seconds
3rd place winner: Jessie Smith; 26 minutes, 7 seconds

Bracket 3
1st place winner: Capt. Lori Katowich, 47th FTW; 35 minutes, 42 seconds

Bracket 4
1st place winner: Linda Squyers; 49 minutes, 37 seconds
