Stop & Give is a national blood drive campaign that honors those affected by motor vehicle accidents. The blood drive is available to anyone 16 years of age weighing 120 pounds or at least 17 years old weighing 110 pounds. People wishing to donate need to be in good general health and must have photo identification, last four digits of their social security number and their birth date. "As military personnel it is our duty to support our country and our community," said 1st Lt. Michael Trott, 84th Flying Training Squadron assistant flight commander and blood drive coordinator. "The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center is lacking blood donations and this is a chance for Laughlin to come out and give back." One unit of blood can help three people, he said. The goal of the blood drive is 100 units, which could potentially help 300 people. "It doesn't take a lot of time or energy to give blood and its benefits are far reaching," said Trott. "It is a great feeling of accomplishment to help others." All donors will receive a mini-physical and points towards 'Wellness Rewards' or a 'Stop & Give' T-shirt that can be redeemed online. For more information on the blood drive, contact Trott at 298-4783 or visit www.southtexasblood.org.
