Laughlin is scheduled to have its first Kidz Klinic Aug. 12 at the 47th Medical Group clinic and wellness screenings will take place between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.

This Kidz Klinic is to give kids the necessary medical treatment for the upcoming school year. Spaces are limited and patients will be seen on first-come, first-serve basis. Only well appointments will be seen, which are appointments that consist of annual physicals, sports physicals or immunizations.

"This is a perfect opportunity for parents to ensure that their children have everything medically ready for the upcoming school year," said Reynaldo Torres, 47th Medical Operations Squadron exercise physiologist.

The clinic will also be having an open house period from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where there will be interactive booths with Laughlin's medics, games and food.

"This will be a time to showcase our Laughlin medics in an informal, open forum where our community can interact with them in a more comfortable environment," said Torres.

There will be booths set up by different sections of the clinic. Some booths will have information that is helpful for parents, like the Tricare Operations and Patient Administration, which will focus specifically on referral management and patient travel, but will have a Wii system and goodies to occupy smaller children.

There will be some booths with fun activities for children as well, such as camouflage face painting and gas masks.

"I think this open house is a great opportunity for the medical group to show the patients the more relaxed and fun side of the medics," said Senior Airman Xanthe Pajarillo, 47th Medical Support Squadron referral management and patient travel technician.
