  • Saturday Night Live comedian brings laughs to Laughlin

    Tim Meadows, a comedian noted for his presence on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, visited Laughlin, July 29, 2018, and performed here at Club XL. Meadows traveled to Laughlin to perform his last of twelve comedy shows at different U.S. Air Force Bases along with Walter Campbell, a ‘GI’s of Comedy’ comedian and U.S. Air Force veteran himself.

    Second Lieutenant Jessica Raab, 47th Force Support Squadron, community services deputy flight commander, completed her career-long goal of becoming an officer. Raab’s father was a U.S. Air Force pilot during the Vietnam War, which influenced her throughout her childhood to follow in his footsteps to commission. Raab enlisted after high school for college opportunities with the goal of commissioning.

Ethan Marquis, 47th Security Forces Squadron military working MDW handler, was chosen by wing leadership to be the “XLer” of the week, for the week of June 4, 2018, at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas. The “XLer” award, presented by Col. Charlie Velino, 47th Flying Training Wing commander, is given to those who consistently make outstanding contributions to their unit and the Laughlin mission.
  • Laughlin’s instructor pilots talk T-6 Texan II

    With a primary mission of training the world’s best military pilots, Laughlin is also home to a number of the best instructor pilots the U.S. Air Force has to offer. A majority of these instructors are assigned to either the 85th Flying Training Squadron or the 434th FTS, which are together known as “T-6 Nation,” giving students their first flying experiences in the military through the T-6 Texan II.

  • Almost Showtime: Fiesta of Flight

    Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, is set to host multiple aerial performances, concessionaires, static displays and more at the ‘Fiesta of Flight’ Open House and Air Show May 12, 2018. Being Laughlin’s first show in nearly a decade, the base spent more than two years of planning with the continuous support from the community. The ‘Fiesta of Flight’ is prepared to house over 35 aircraft, including 16 performances.
