LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas--Staff Sgt. Jeremy Quintana, Laughlin Fire Department, shows Cub and Boy Scouts different equipment used when extinguishing fires during a 3-day camporee here April 17 through 19. The nearly 300 Scouts arrived at Laughlin from throughout the largest council in Texas, and one of the largest in the nation, to attend the event. Officials estimated that it had been nearly 20 years since Laughlin hosted a camporee. "Having the event at Laughlin brought in a lot more people than you would normally expect at a camporee," said Roger Ridley, event chairman. LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Mr. Cesar Vasquez, a tractor operator with Del-Jen Inc., checks the temperature of a compost pile at Laughlin’s compost facility located near the combat arms training area here. The compost of soil, horse manure, grass clippings and branches is reclaimed and used around the base to reutilize natural resources, just one of the guidelines to be covered by the upcoming Air Education and Training Command Environmental Safety and Occupational Health Compliance Assessment Management Program April 20 through 24. “The compost facility has helped Laughlin achieve “Tree City USA” status for 15 straight years and just in time for Earth Day, April 22,” said Ramon Flores, an environmental engineer with the 47th Installation Support Squadron (Provisional). Easter Egg Hunt

LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Justin Casarez and Jose Nava III race Airman 1st Class Dennis Reuter, 47th Medical Group, during the Base Easter Egg Hunt festivities, sponsored by the 47th Force Support Squadron, April 11 at the Leaning Pine Golf Course. The races were competitive throughout the day, as youngsters that were able to defeat the winless Airman Reuter received a prize. More than 300 youngsters turned out for the Easter event making it one of the largest held recently, to search for 6,000 Easter eggs, participate in sack races or pony rides. Pinnacle Housing Management provided 800 hot dogs, drinks and sno-cones. The event kicked off with a parade featuring 50 youngsters and their parents marching and riding from the chapel to the golf course, led by a fire truck that had Sparky the Fire Dog and the Easter bunny on-board.(U.S. Air force photo by tech.
