Laughlin XLer -- Staff Sgt. Curtis Billig
LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --
Job title and unit: Fire Protection Craftsman, 47th Civil Engineering Squadron
Hometown: Hanover, Pa.
Family: Katie Billig (wife) from Gettysburg, Pa., Howard and Linda Billig (parents) from Hanover, Pa., Brittany Billig (sister) from Hanover, Pa.
Time at Laughlin: 1 year, arrived Feb. 26, 2010
Time in military/civil service: 4.5 years, enlisted Aug. 1, 2006
Greatest accomplishment: Attending the competitive rescue technician I and II courses in my second year as a firefighter and earning the certifications
Hobbies: Fishing, mountain biking, running, anything outdoors
Bad habit: Video Games; they are such a distracter, but sometimes you just need that Madden fix.
Favorite movies: I am more of a T.V. fan. I watch most of the shows on Discovery Channel and History Channel. I love to root for the military guys on the show "Top Shot."
If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why: If I could spend an hour with any person, I would spend it with my late great grandfather Edward Silvetti. As an enlisted member of the Army Air Corps, he was the first in my family to enter the Air Force and one of our branch's enlisted forefathers. I wish I could have talked with him about his experiences.
