LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --

Airman 1st Class Soribel Rodriguez, 47th Medical Support Squadron referral management and patient travel technician, describes her job as being the gatekeeper between the 47th Medical Group and the network.

“We are responsible for recouping the medical records generated by our network counterparts,” Rodriguez said. “We also provide assistance with patient travel.”

Rodriguez was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic and lived in Queens, New York for six years.

“My mom and two brothers live in Italy, and my father lives back in the Dominican Republic,” Rodriguez said. “I have a son, his name is Jhon, and he is 8 years old. I am also currently married.”

For Rodriguez, her son is the reason she chooses to go the extra mile.

“You always hear people say ‘family first’ and is very true,” Rodriguez said. “Jhon is the essential key in my life.”
