LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --

Unit and job title: 47th Communications Squadron, NCO in charge of Cyber Systems Operations

Why he XLed: Grooms took lead on the Defense Information Systems Agency mandate and was the point of contact for 11 Secure Internet Protocol Router machine repairs across the wing which brought the 47th Flying Training Wing to 100 percent compliance. He led a four-member inspection team and coordinated with DISA and the 24th Air Force to develop a new scanning process that postured the wing for the Cyber Command Readiness Inspection. Grooms also coordinated 21 Program Management Office system configurations for all groups and reduced deficiencies by 85 percent.
