September Family Advocacy Classes

The 47th Medical Group is offering a series of free family advocacy classes open to all base personnel, ranging in topics from baby care to stress management classes, throughout the month of September.

 


-Obstetrics Orientation and Bundles for Babies: This class is an overview of what to expect during pregnancy. Participants will receive information related to the prenatal period, labor and delivery, and post-partum. Dads are encouraged to attend. This class is mandatory for all pregnant active duty members.

-Finding Mr/Mrs Right: This exciting workshop for singles will focus on knowing what to look for in a person you are dating and how to create a healthy and strong relationship from the beginning.

Airman & Family Readiness Center Classroom

5:30 to 7 p.m.

 

-Toddler Fitness Playgroup: This playgroup will provide instruction to walking toddlers up to the age of 3, focusing on balance, eye- and hand-coordination along with other basic motor skills. Parents are required to participate.

-Baby Care Basics: This class guides the soon-to-be parent(s) in taking care of their newborn. Participants will learn and practice basic infant care skills and comforting techniques. Infant safety and health care will be reviewed and reinforced. Information related to newborn appearance, procedures done during the hospital stay, and normal reflexes of the newborn will be presented. Education on calming a crying baby and Shaken Baby Syndrome will complete the class. Handouts provided. Spouses are encouraged to attend. Registration is mandatory to attend.

-1-2-3 Magic Parenting: This course consists of one two-hour session that offers parenting solutions that work well with children ages 2-12.

 

September 14, 2016

Mental Health Training Room

2 to 4 p.m.

 

-Teen Talk: This class will examine some of the issues teenagers face. Topics include:  cyber bullying, building communication, wellness, abusive relationships and more. Youth do not have to be enrolled at the Youth Center to attend.

 

September 16, 2016

Youth Center

6 to 8 p.m.

 

-Third Trimester to Labor Class: This class is designed to provide the participant with information not only related to what to expect during the third trimester, but also takes them through the onset of labor, into delivery and the post-partum period. Handouts are provided. Spouses are encouraged to attend.

 

September 20, 2016

9:30 to 11:30 p.m.

 

-Dads 101: This class is for new dads and dads-to-be only. The class provides skills and training to care for a newborn. No moms are allowed.

To sign-up for a class, call 298-6422. You must register in order to attend each class. Classes are cancelled the night prior if there are no participants signed up.
