Laughlin's statics restored
LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas - Mario Constancio, left, and Juan A. Gonzalez, 47th Flying Training Wing aircraft maintenance corrosion controllers, put the finishing touches on the newly restored U-2C on static display near the front gate here. Crews removed the faded, chipped paint and corrosion from the aircraft by sanding the exterior. They then repainted the entire aircraft and applied new decals using masking tape as a guide. They had more than a dozen photographs of the aircraft with them to make sure they restored the U-2C to its original form. Laughlin's aircraft maintenance crews work to restore planes on display here on an as-needed basis. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Charlie Miller)
