Fernando Luis Ribas-Berain speaks at a Hispanic Heritage Month event during a visit to Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, Oct. 10, 2014. Ribas-Berain is the son of the late Maj. Fernando L. Ribas-Dominicci, who graduated Laughlin’s Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training in 1977. Ribas-Dominicci was shot down April 15, 1986 over Libya during Operation El Dorado Canyon.
