  • Spouse's day take over

    Several hundred Laughlin spouses had the time of their life thanks to the hard work of some Laughlin members and the support of community partners. “I was amazed,” said Senior Master Sgt. Wakisha Humphries, Wing Day in Honor of Spouses project officer. “Everyone at Laughlin stepped up and did whatever they could to make this day successful. When our local community partners heard about it, we couldn’t have had more amazing support.” The celebration kicked off with a ceremony at the wing’s Heritage Park, located across from wing headquarters that saluted spouses for their amazing support. Before they entered the park, spouses had the chance to grab a free breakfast taco and organizers had contracted a local gourmet coffee truck to provide coffee for all spouses.
  • Wing Makes History with first “State Of Laughlin” address

    For the first time ever the 47th Flying Training Wing commander, Col. Craig Prather gave an address to local leaders in the community about where the installation is and where it plans to progress in the coming years.
  • Student pilot competes for pilot wings, pageant crown

    Second Lt. Sarena Shilts is competing for two accolades this year: her silver pilot wings, and the Miss Texas USA crown. "I'm attracted to pageantry for similar reasons I'm attracted to being an Air Force pilot," Shilts said. "The two worlds seem to contradict, but there are actually many parallels between the two. Physical training, communication skills, leadership experience.”

  • Laughlin moves to HPCON Bravo

    Due to a steady decrease in positive COVID-19 cases in Val Verde County, the 47th Flying Training Wing commander, Col. Craig Prather, has directed the change to Health Protection Condition Bravo on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, effective immediately. The movement to HPCON Bravo does not alter the policies directed and implemented by the Department of the Air Force regarding mask-wear guidance on federal installations.

  • Deputy commander meets with Laughlin teammates, experiences Team XL

    Maj. Gen. William Spangenthal, deputy commander of Air Education and Training Command, visited the 47th Flying Training Wing this month to witness how Team XL is furthering an environment of excellence for Airmen stationed here. Cultivating an environment of excellence includes ensuring Airmen and families have a safe, secure environment for them to live and work. This was reinforced during Spangenthal’s visit as he toured Ricks Hall and enlisted dorms.
