    Seventy years ago this month—on 25 June 1950—North Korea invaded South Korea, beginning the Korean War. The Korean War lasted from 1950 to 1953, and it is notable for us here at Laughlin Air Force Base for two reasons in particular:

  • Local area expanded to San Antonio, San Angelo, Big Bend National Park

    LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Effective June 8, 2020, the local area for Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, is now expanded to include San Antonio, San Angelo and Big Bend National Park, announced Col. Lee Gentile, 47th Flying Training Wing commander, today at Laughlin.
  • Child Development Center at Laughlin AFB takes measures to prevent COVID-19

    The team at the Laughlin Child Development Center have always had their hands full, charged with the welfare of the base’s youth. The week of June 1, 2020, Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, returned to Health Protection Level Bravo, which means operations as normal for the base although still with precautions.
  • XLer of the week: 1st Lt. Dale Hupe

    First Lt. Dale Hupe, 87th Flying Training Squadron flight standardization and evaluation monitor/instructor pilot, was chosen by wing leadership to be the “XLer” of the week, the week of May 26, 2020, at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas.   • Laughlin Airman makes a lifestyle of healthy eating

    Growing up, Airman 1st Class Matthew Blasberg worked out but was never what you’d call ‘fit’. His senior photos showed a round-faced boy who could have passed for a 12-year-old and he felt his confidence drain. Blasberg, fresh out of high school, moved away from home to take college classes. With the influence of his older sister, he began to dabble in healthy eating to reach a higher level of fitness. Not long after, he made the life-changing decision to join the U.S. Air Force.
  • Laughlin salutes frontline workers in Del Rio, Eagle Pass, San Angelo

    T-6A Texan IIs, T-1A Jayhawks and a T-38C Talons from Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, blazed over the skies of nearby cities Eagle Pass, San Angelo, and of course, their hometown Del Rio, May 21, 2020. This flyover represents a salute from Laughlin showing gratitude to frontline workers everywhere, and motivating the community to remain resilient during the challenges of COVID-19.
