The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will be holding a ceremony to honor our country on Flag Day at the BPOE lodge, June 15, at 10 a.m.

Although the celebration's official day is June 14th, the BPOE is moving their celebration to the weekend of June 15th to allow more people to join if they wish to do so.

The Elks host a Flag Day and decommissioning ceremony for old flags that are too tattered to be flown and need proper disposal. There will be a potluck meal afterwards, that is free of charge.

"Our order has approximately 190 members; we quietly serve the nation's veterans and the Del Rio community and we are excited to celebrate this American day with our neighbors," said Steve Rosalez, 47th Civil Service Maintenance Squadron computer repair technician and chairman of the BPOE's Americanism Committee.

The ceremony will take place at the BPOE lodge, located on San Felipe Road located between Calderon Elementary School and the San Felipe golf course and is open to all.
