Liquid propane gas leak contained Published Feb. 24, 2013 47th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- A contractor was working on a 10,000 gallon tank containing approximately 4,500 gallons of liquid propane when a valve failed on the fuel line began leaking gas. The leak was stopped by personnel on the scene at approximately 10:45 p.m. The rupture occurred while civilian contractors were replacing a valve on the fuel tank used for the Laughlin Fire Department's fire training aircraft. One civilian contractor was injured and was transported to Val Verde Regional Medical Center for treatment. As a precaution, the base camping area and lodging were evacuated. Evacuees were returned to their residences and the base is now back to normal operations. There is no risk at this time to the population.
