This year's annual Ninos Navidenos event will be held Dec. 22, at the Del Rio Civic Center in Del Rio, Texas.

According to Eva Escobar, event coordinator, the event is designed to spread holiday cheer to the children of Del Rio by bringing them together and giving them gifts that were donated by the community.

The festivities, which will take place from noon to 5 p.m., will feature free food and a visit from Santa as well as gifts for children up to 15 years old.

"Last year, the community donated more than 1,200 toys and gifts for this event," said Capt. Wesley Szempruch. "This year, we're hoping to raise that number to more than 1,500."

This event, however, is not just for the children. According to Capt. Braden Coleman, 47th Student Squadron Assistant Director of Operations, this event is important for all members of the community.

If you are interested in donating, you may place a new, unwrapped toy into the donation collection boxes located near the entrances of building 320. If you are interested in volunteering at the event, contact Capt. Szempruch at (952) 239-3122.
