Team XL was informed Sept. 24 that the entire wing earned an 'Excellent' rating during the recent Consolidated Unit Inspection that took place Sept. 17 to 21.

More than 150 inspectors came to Laughlin to examine the processes and procedures of all units while also having the opportunity to observe a major accident response exercise, involving an aircraft accident.

"I'm extremely happy to announce that the wing received an overall 'Excellent' CUI rating," said Col. Tom Murphy, 47th Flying Training Wing commander. "I'm also happy to announce that the team of inspectors did not observe a single customs and courtesy or dress and appearance deficiency. This is the first time a base received an 'Outstanding' rating for standards with zero deficiencies!"

Murphy explained how the inspection was a great tool to help evaluate the operations here but will ultimately make Laughlin a better base.

"All I can say is well done," Murphy said. "There is no doubt we graduate the world's best pilots, deploy mission-ready Airmen and develop professional, disciplined leaders. I am not surprised of our 'Excellent' accomplishment and am proud to be a part of the best wing in the Air Force."
