Laughlin XLs in recent ESHOCAMP inspection Published May 23, 2012 By 47th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- A team of 20 inspectors from Air Education and Training Command stopped by Laughlin April 23 to 27 and conducted a Tier III Environmental Safety Occupational Health Compliance Assessment Management Program inspection. "It is a very meticulous, base-wide inspection and we came through with flying colors," said Lt. Col. Dee J Katzer, 47th Civil Engineer Squadron commander. The inspection measured the Wing's compliance with regulations, permits and ordinances as well as federal, state, local laws, related to human health and safety, mission and the environment. The inspectors evaluated 133 facilities, reviewed 865 documents and interviewed 178 personnel. "There were both positive and negative findings, but no serious negative findings. We passed all environmental areas and were rated green," said Gene Moore, 47th CES environmental element chief. Of the four major categories inspected, there were zero high risk or major write-ups and no repeats. Also, five benchmarks for the major command were established from operations created here. "We improved tremendously since the last inspection," Moore said. "There were 45 total negative findings which is a drastic improvement from the last inspection three years ago when we had 80 negative findings. At the wing commander's out brief we were told we're one of the best in Air Education Training Command."
