The annual Air Force Assistance Fund campaign, which will give servicemembers a chance to donate to a good cause, is set to start here March 26.

The AFAF is a campaign that raises money for four charities that support military members: the Air Force Aid Society, Air Force Enlisted Village, Air Force Village and the General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay foundation.

"The AFAF is the only fundraiser that actually benefits the Air Force itself. If you donate money it could directly impact a fellow Airman in need," said 1st Lt. Daniel Jeanes, 85th Flying Training Squadron instructor pilot and installation project officer.

According to 1st Lt. Tim O'Brien, 47th Comptroller Squadron and IPO, the Air Force Personnel Center calculates the goal for each base by determining the amount that would be collected if all military personnel donated their "fair share" and then dividing that number in half.

"The AFPC goal is just more than $31,000, however we would like to donate our full potential of $63,000," said O'Brien. O'Brien also noted that last year AFAF raised more than $61,000 here at Laughlin.

All personnel assigned to Laughlin, military, civilian or contractor, may donate by contacting their unit project officer. The following individuals are unit project officers:
