The 47th Mission Support Group held an active-shooter exercise here Feb. 28.

The 47th Security Forces Squadron, Laughlin Fire Department and Air Force office of special investigation's came together for the exercise to assess the ability of emergency response personnel's capabilities of reporting to gunman on base.

The active-shooter scenario revolved around a disgruntled security forces Airman who decided to go on a shooting spree.

The exercise tested the readiness and response time of security forces to arrive on scene and neutralize the situation.

After the situation was defused, the Laughlin Fire Department provided medical care to the simulated victims while the SFS and OSI began an investigation of the shooting.

Laughlin frequently holds exercises such as these to ensure base personnel are prepared to respond to different types of disasters and accidents.
