A natural running clinic and coaching certification course is scheduled to take place March 13 and 14 with Ian Adamson, a seven time Adventure Race world champion, as the guest trainer.

The free two-day event will take place at Club XL from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first day and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the final day.

With Laughlin's Airmen having lots of pressure to stay in shape, this gives them a way to do that, said Reynaldo Torres, Health and Wellness Center.

"This will be good for attendees to better themselves on running education, form and gear," said Tech. Sgt. Michael Kearns, 47th Medical Operations Squadron. "Anyone who is into running or would like to improve their own performance would benefit greatly from attending."

The day's events will features education on natural running, proper form, posture analysis, gait analysis, form drills, techniques and correct footwear choices.

"Within the last few years, there has been an enormous movement in natural running both as a leisure activity and in the competitive world," Torres said. "People are trying to tune in on the correct shoes to wear to improve efficiency and reduce injuries."

Torres said that bringing Adamson here and having him speak to the base just makes sense.

"We also know that Laughlin's Adventure Race is coming up in April, so this is a great time for those preparing for the adventure race to come and listen to someone who knows about racing," he said.

The two-day class is open to all base personnel who want to know more about natural running and how it can improve running efficiency while reducing injuries.
