The XLerator Fitness Challenge was held here Sep. 30 and tested Airmen with a physical competition that would make most cringe.

Participants ran one mile, proceeded to perform one minute of pull-ups, push-ups, air-squats, dips, sit-ups and burpees before running another mile at the end.

Twelve Laughlin personnel took the challenge and displayed the elite fitness level they possess.

The winner of the men's division was 2n d Lt. Chris Poulsen, 47th Operations Support Squadron. Poulsen ran his first mile in five minutes, 32 seconds, completed 30 pull-ups, 63 push-ups, 55 air-squats, 64 dips, 70 sit-ups, 27 burpees and ran his last mile in six minutes, 19 seconds.

The winner of the women's division was Laughlin spouse Candice Huff. Huff ran her first mile in seven minutes, 21 seconds, completed 24 push-ups, 50 air-squats, 49 dips, 48 sit-ups, 19 burpees and ran her last mile in eight minutes.

Tech. Sgt. Abraham Avila, 47th Medical Operations Squadron aerospace and operation physiology flight chief, set up the event with Amy Reeves, Health and Wellness Center fitness program director.

"This event gave Laughlin's Airmen an opportunity to display their physical abilities and should motivate all to improve their physical training scores," said Reeves.

"I'd just like to thank all of the volunteers because without them, this event would not have happened and I would also like to thank the participants for competing as well as they possibly could," said Avila.
