Laughlin's Club XL is scheduled to host a series of free classes called For Your Benefit to thank those who currently hold club memberships here.

Club XL is open for membership to all active duty military, retired military personnel, civilian employees, base contractors and dependents. Entertainment and social functions for members take place frequently.

Besides the benefits members already receive, such as no-fee party rooms with no deposit required, classes are held for them to attend. Workshops are scheduled to be held every couple of weeks and vary greatly in topic. Future events include a painting and wall repair workshop, a window treatment workshop and a baking workshop, to name a few.

"Members have received this program nicely and participation has increased with every workshop we've had so far," said Bruce Hiott, Club XL manager. "We hope to continue to see new faces show up at these events."

The most recent workshop took place June 16, where participants learned gardening tips from representatives from Home Depot in Del Rio and May 25, members had the chance to learn beer-brewing techniques.

"The participants of the beer brewing class will gather at Jack's Place soon for part two of their class and taste what they've created after having let the beer ferment for a while," said Hiott.

There are activities for all different types and even though people have different interests, many come together at the events sponsored by Club XL and have fun participating and learning new skills in each other's company, said Hiott.

"There's such a diverse array of programming that there's something for everybody to enjoy," said 2nd Lt. Ryan Jefferson, 47th FSS.
