Laughlin prepares for upcoming fundraiser Published March 3, 2011 By 2nd Lt. Ashley Wolfe 47th Flying Training Wing public affairs LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Laughlin will be participating in the annual Air Force Assistance Fund campaign March 28 through May 6. The AFAF is an organization that was created to annually raise funds for charitable affiliates that support the Air Force family. Unlike the Combined Federal Campaign, which donates funds to hundreds of charities, the AFAF focuses on only four. These are the Air Force Aid Society, Air Force Enlisted Village, Air Force Village and the General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation. These charities take care of Airmen's emergency needs, host base enhancement programs and support the widows and widowers of our fellow Airmen. "By contributing to the AFAF, Airmen are giving money directly back to Airmen and helping to ensure there are means necessary to take care of their loved ones should they need it," said Master Sgt. Robert Vachon, 47th Security Forces Squadron, who is the Installation Project Officer for the AFAF. Anyone can donate to the campaign once it begins March 28. More information about how and where to donate will be sent out through unit project officers before the campaign.
