Laughlin receives ‘XLent’ rating for LCAP Published Feb. 17, 2011 By 2nd Lt. Ashley Wolfe 47th Flying Training Wing public affairs LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Laughlin just underwent its first ever Logistics Compliance Assessment Program inspection Feb. 7-11, and received an 'excellent' rating. According to Air Force Instructions, the purpose of the LCAP is to provide leadership at all levels with an evaluation of a unit's ability to perform key logistics processes in a safe, standardized, repeatable and technically compliant manner. An inspection along these lines will occur at Laughlin once every two years. Not only did Laughlin do well, but they set the bar for future inspections. "We were told in the debrief by the LCAP inspectors that they have only given out two 'excellent's in the year they have been implementing this new inspection system. Of the two 'excellent' ratings, Laughlin has received the highest score to date," said Michael Johnson, 47th Maintenance director. The 47th Maintenance Directorate as well as the 47th Logistics Readiness Division and its functions operated by Akima, the International Logistics Group and RRGP Services were all inspected by the LCAP team. The inspectors were focused on technical order directives and safety standards. They watched as Laughlin members performed more than 2,000 different tasks to ensure they complied with the standards. Individual units excelled as well. "Akima had four sections that received perfect scores on the inspection," said Kevin Illsley, 47th LRD manager. "We've set the bar pretty high. We've had great cooperation. This has been a team effort and the communication between contractors and the government has been incredible," said Lt. Col. Karen Stoff, 47th Mission Support Group deputy commander. For the Laughlin members involved, the inspection validated the quality of work they perform daily. "Knowing that we contributed to helping Laughlin achieve such a high rating feels wonderful. Achieving this mark with these people is a high point in my career. None of this would have been possible without the great team I work with," said Jimmy Van Slyke, 47th Quality Assurance chief inspector, who was named an LCAP outstanding performer.
