Library contest keeps readers guessing Published Feb. 8, 2011 By 2nd Lt. Ashley Wolfe 47th Flying Training Wing public affairs LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Laughlin's Bookmark Library is making reading very rewarding. The library is hosting a reading contest until Feb. 28. Anyone who participates gets rewarded with candy just for reading a book and gets entered into a raffle to win a large box of chocolates. There's a catch, though. You don't know what book you will be checking out until you leave the library. The library technicians have chosen a selection of books ranging from fiction to non-fiction, best-sellers and classics, and they have wrapped them up in paper to keep the book a surprise. The surprise factor was created to make checking out a book a little more exciting and to expand the horizons of readers who visit the library, said Troy Hoyles, library technician. "We chose books that are popular, but might be a challenge to read. We wanted books that people might never have thought to read before," said Hoyles. The contest is on an honor system. A contestant checks out a book and when they return it, they state if they were able to read it or not. If you have any questions regarding the contest contact the Bookmark Library at 830-298-5119.
