Laughlin's enlisted and officer dormitories underwent a rare inspection Jan. 4.

Col. Michael Frankel, 47th Flying Training Wing commander, ordered an inspection of every room in the dorms by dogs trained in detection.

"This was a joint effort by Laughlin's first sergeants, the dorm managers, security forces and U.S. Customs," said Capt. Raymond Fortner, 47th Security Forces operation officer.

Military Working Dogs from the 47th SFS and U.S. Customs detection dogs were taken into every room in the dorm buildings to check for contraband. The results of the inspection are not releasable.

In addition to the inspection, every enlisted dorm resident and 10 percent of Laughlin's student pilots were called to Losano Fitness Center to undergo a drug screening.

"This was done simply to ensure Laughlin's younger members continue to adhere to high standards that wing leadership and the Air Force hold for them," said Col. Frankel. "We are confident that we will find very few if any violations, but people must know we take maintaining our standards very seriously."
