Laughlin's newest economic impact statement released Published Dec. 15, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Blake Mize 47th Flying Training Wing public affairs LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Laughlin's newest economic impact statement, which shows the economic effect the base has on the local community, was released Dec. 9. In fiscal year 2009, Laughlin directly provided employment for 2,642 individuals and indirectly generated work for 1,436 additional people. In that time, Laughlin's payroll totaled $95,995,197 and the total economic impact Laughlin provided the local community in that time is valued at $217, 099,199. "Laughlin could not have accomplished these great things without the support of the local community," said Col. Michael Frankel, 47th Flying Training Wing commander. "Our partnership ensures that we provide the best specialized undergraduate pilot training for the United States and its allies and ensures that our Airmen are ready to support expeditionary forces worldwide." Major Shenen Hoefferle, 47th Comptroller Squadron commander, said that Laughlin provides stimulus for the Del Rio community in a variety of ways in addition to providing jobs. "Laughlin provides positive impacts to Del Rio through its extensive use of the local medical facilities, enrollment in undergraduate and graduate level education and contributions to charities via the Combined Federal Campaign," said Maj.
