At times you might hear of a military member serving near family or even rarer, of a member serving in the town they were born. The story of Staff Sgt. David Delgado, 47th Contracting Squadron, and Staff Sgt. Naomi Solorio, 47th Flying Training Wing Chapel, might just take the cake.

Not only are they siblings both stationed at Laughlin, but they were both born here as well.

The story begins back in 1981 when retired Tech. Sgt. David Delgado, Sr. was stationed at Laughlin. Sergeant Delgado, who served as a jet engine mechanic for the 47th Propulsion Branch, said Laughlin provided a high quality life for his wife and himself.

"My wife and I were blessed with two children," said Sergeant Delgado.

Their first child, Sergeant Delgado, was born in 1982 and two years later in 1984, Sergeant Solorio arrived. In 1985, one year after Sergeant Solorio's birth, the family moved to San Antonio where the sergeants' father took a reserve position at Lackland Air Force Base.

The years passed and in 2009, Sergeant Solorio found herself once again calling Laughlin home. Sergeant Solorio first arrived at Laughlin being assigned to the 47th Communications Squadron while her husband also worked at Laughlin in the fire department. More recently, Sergeant Solorio has made a transition in her career and is now serving in the Air Force under the chaplain.

Sergeant Solorio's older brother, Sergeant Delgado, arrived at Laughlin in October. He serves in the Contracting Squadron today, but his former assignments had him operating as an avionics specialist on F-15 and F-22 aircraft in Marietta, Georgia.

"My brother and I have always been close, but it's so nice being able to have our families spend quality time with each other and I love the fact that I can finally see my nieces," said Sergeant Solorio.

Sergeant Solorio and Sergeant Delgado don't know exactly how or why they both got stationed at Laughlin, but they said they are sure happy with the way it worked out.

"We have always been close, even being half way across the country from each other," Sergeant Delgado said. "But nothing can beat having family just right down the street from you."
