Team Laughlin will host an Environmental Safety and Occupational Health Compliance Assessment Management Program external audit team April 20 through 24.

During the visit, the team of experts from across Air Education and Training Command will conduct studies to verify Laughlin's compliance with environmental and occupational safety and health laws and regulations.

"The ESOHCAMP audit is like a staff assistance visit in that it's designed to track our efforts to do the right thing. It is based on a robust evaluation process that takes an in-depth look at ESOH aspects and impacts of the activities on the health and well-being of the personnel at Laughlin," said Ramon Flores, an environmental engineer with the 47th Installation Support Squadron (Provisional).

The ESOHCAMP team will use specific written guidelines to determine the overall status of the base's environmental program. Those guidelines cover items such as hazardous materials, natural resources and drinking water as well as the overall Environmental Management System.

Laughlin's EMS program aims to ensure continuous improvement in ESOH management. As part of the process, once findings are discovered plans are produced to fix and prevent recurrence of the problems by attacking their root causes, said Mr. Flores.

Mr. Flores said the inspection team will be looking for positive findings and best management practices as well. The team will also recognize units and individuals with proven success stories that will be shared across the Air Force.

Any questions related to ESOHCAMP can be directed to the 47th ISS (P), environmental engineering at 298-5063 or 298-5694.
