Those who feel they are up for a mental challenge will have the opportunity to put their minds to the test in a base-wide scavenger hunt Oct. 21.

Following a "mission briefing" at 4 p.m. Oct. 21 at Anderson Hall, teams of four to six members will be turned loose to scour the base for clues in an attempt to figure out various riddles and brain teasers.

There are roughly 30 riddles to be figured out, said Airman 1st Class Sara Csurilla, 47th Flying Training Wing public affairs, who helped coordinate the challenge.

"Some are easier than others, but a few require a fair amount of thinking and searching," she said. Qualifying "scavenges" may include simple answers to riddles or possession of a physical object only available by visiting a specific location. Airman Csurilla said the riddles are varied in how they are solved, but didn't elaborate. "Figuring it out is most of the fun," she said.

Airman Csurilla and her partner in putting the hunt together, Airman 1st Class Elizabeth Owens, 47th Operations Support Squadron, wanted to create a fun challenge where an individual effort wouldn't suffice.

"This will really get people working together as a team, which is part of the overall Wingman Day concept," Airman Csurilla said. "You can't go at it alone, and you can't just figure out the clues without getting out there and roaming the base."

Participants will have approximately 21 hours to solve as many of the riddles as they can before the competition ends at the Wing Picnic Oct. 22.

Entry to the scavenger hunt is free, and anyone from base may participate. For details or to sign up a team contact Airman Csurilla at 298-5262 or 298-5393.
