The Save a Life tour will visit Laughlin from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sept. 29 in Bldg. 385 (the old gym right next to the bowling alley).

"The Save a Life Tour is a shocking approach to alcohol awareness that features uncensored, shocking videos of drunken driving accidents, speakers who share their personal experience with drinking and driving, and a multi-million dollar drinking and driving simulator," said 2nd Lt. Shane Seibert, 47th Flying Training Wing safety office.

Presentations will be held at 8 a.m. and noon and last about 45 minutes. Groups will be taken through the simulator at the top of every hour.

Brian Beldyga, the Save a Life Tour senior manager, has been traveling across the world for more than seven years speaking to groups about how to make the right decisions when drinking.

"It's hard to find exactly what is going to affect one single person, so that's why we have so many forms of media here and hopefully we'll reach people that way," Mr. Beldyga said.

The hands-on simulator, a large part of the tour is specially designed to make a person feel as if they are driving while intoxicated while considering the person's height and weight, as well as how many drinks it takes to affect their level of intoxication.

The simulator is based on over 40 years of research into simulation and motion technology. It provides participants with every stimulus that would be present in a real car, including sounds, air conditioning, and 5 monitors providing a 225° field of vision. The simulator has 50 square miles of virtual landscape and over 87 miles of roadway.

While the target audience is people in the 18-25 year age group, all ages are highly encouraged to attend this event. Contact 2nd Lt. Seibert at 298- 4873 for more information.
