Don't wait for last minute to file taxes

LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The April 15 deadline for filing federal income taxes is rapidly approaching.

The 47th Flying Training Wing legal office provides free tax assistance for active duty military and their dependents. Until March 28, appointments are available for one-on-one assistance in preparing 1040EZ and 1040A forms. After March 28, the legal office will still provide free tax preparation and e-filing software but appointments and on-site assistance will not be available.

Eligible personnel are encouraged to visit the legal office or call 2nd Lt. Jonathan Fernandez at 298-5172 for assistance. Free tax preparation software is also available through www.militaryonesource.com.

Additionally, several locations in the Del Rio area offer free tax assistance to qualifying filers. A list of participating organizations can be attained by calling the legal office.
