The 47th Operations Support Squadron basketball team won a rather large size trophy and bragging rights when they beat the 47th Force Support Squadron team 45 - 36 in the championship game at the Losano Fitness Center March 12.

"When everyone came together to make this team, I could tell from the first game we played that were going to do well," said Senior Airman Shawdale Ervin, 47th OSS team captain.

The OSS team is made of members from all over the squadron including life support technicians and air traffic controllers. The FSS team is made of members from the FSS, the comptroller squadron, the contracting squadron and wing staff agencies.

"The last two years we fell short of our championship title, so this year we all had one common goal," said Airman Ervin."We wanted to win a championship!"

The OSS team went undefeated throughout most of the season with 11 wins and one loss, so most weren't surprised when they dominated in the championship.

"I think most people figured the OSS would be in the championship but it was a big deal for us to get there," said Staff Sgt. Cesar Torres, 47th Flying Training Wing and FSS team member. "It felt good to play in the championship and with so much team work on both sides, it also made it fun."

Although there was a steady pace throughout the game, the teams were nearly neck and neck for the majority of the game. But in the end, the team that played their heart out for the past few years took hold of the score and proved that "the third time is a charm" said Airman Ervin.
