Laughlin's 47th Force Support Squadron has done it again.
After winning a command-level award, the squadron continued to set the standard and was named best in the Air Force for running the most outstanding mission support squadron recently.

"We have such a small, tight-knit group here that we need each other in order to complete this mission," said Staff Sgt. Beth Kirk, NCOIC of outbound assignments, 47th FSS. "Without teamwork we wouldn't have anything."

Members of the 47th MSS and Services Division who merged and became the 47th FSS on May 5, 2007 are not new to recognition for excellent performances. They were the first in the Air Force to merge, and shortly after, the team achieved an "Excellent" rating on the Operational Readiness Inspection.

"We were good before, but since the merger, we've gotten better," said Charla Kelley-Hurley, student assignment relocation manager, 47th FSS. "We've truly learned what it's like to work as a team."

"I believe by receiving the best Air Force Mission Support Squadron Award, it just proves how well everyone works together. From the leadership right down to the customer," said Ms. Kelley-Hurley.

Teamwork seemed to be the theme in the Military Personnel Flight as Carla Rincones, Community Readiness Consultant explained, "We have everyone, civilians and military, but we work together perfectly and I think that's something that really sets us apart from other squadrons throughout the Air Force."

"Being able to pave the way with the first FSS in the AF, Laughlin has shown the innovation necessary to not only survive but thrive under such fiscally constrained times," said Capt. Darrell Board, Manpower and Personnel Flight Commander, 47th FSS. He added, "It's awesome that the FSS team received this well-deserved recognition, I'm proud to be a member!"
