Laughlin began a final salute today to Gerald R. Ford, the thirty-eighth president of the United States, lowering the flag at Laughlin's Heritage Park to half-staff after the former Commander-in-Chief's death Tuesday.

By presidential proclamation, the flag will remain at half-staff for 30 days as a tribute to the late President Ford.

President George W. Bush will also appoint a National Day of Mourning, giving Americans throughout the United States an opportunity to gather and pay their respects.

President Ford, who died at the age of 93, will be remembered "as a man of complete integrity, who led our country with common sense and kind instincts," said President Bush.
