LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Unit and job title: 47th Logistics Readiness Flight logistics manager

Why he XLed: Thomas developed personal property and vehicle operations training tools that educated 6,000 base personnel and transient crew and was identified by Headquarters Air Force as a "best practice." He oversaw a Defense Reutilization Marketing Service transfer of 72 pallets of unserviceable equipment that increased storage space by 20 percent and supported a $23,000 end of year buy. He also led the petroleum, oils and lubricants service to having the number one flying-hour program in AETC, helping to drive 3,712 training sorties by providing 680,000 gallons of fuel. Lastly, Thomas mitigated a shuttle service flaw, gaining four vehicles and negating $400,000 in contract costs while supporting over 1,100 passengers.
