The 4th annual Running with the Bulls 5K and 10K run was Nov. 8, 2014, at Brown Plaza in Del Rio, Texas, to support Val Verde Loaves and Fishes, Del Rio's largest food bank.

"This year has been another great success," said Rodney Dwyer, 87th Flying Training Squadron T-38 Talon instructor pilot and volunteer coordinator. "Loaves and Fishes should be able to operate smoothly throughout the next year, feeding the 1,500 families in need of their support."

The Running with the Bulls race, a fundraiser coordinated by Val Verde Loaves and Fishes, has raised an average of nearly $50,000 in previous years and is currently awaiting the final count of funds raised for this year.  This year participants donated around 3,000 pounds of food at the race to help the local food bank.

"It's very humbling that we were given the opportunity to help out our neighbors in such a big way, it's always a blessing," said Dwyer.

Members from Laughlin's 87th FTS volunteered their off-duty time to help with the event by gathering more volunteers and coordinating with other agencies to get equipment needed for the event in Del Rio.

"Every year since the beginning of this event, the 87th FTS has helped make this event one of the most successful fundraisers in Del Rio," said Bill Cauthorn, Loaves and Fishes president. "We can't thank them enough."
