LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Job title and unit: 47th Contracting Flight, contract specialist

Why she XLed: Carson led a $135,000 fire suppression contract, monitored the contractor, prioritized safety and protected a $2 million communication facility. She authored a $3.9 million runway repair contract and accounted for 2,300 labor hours that led to the sustainment of 5,000 sorties crucial to the wings mission. She also identified a funds shortage and inspected 154 items with the company, reducing costs by $72,000 while driving a $415,000 Air Force Office of Special Investigation building renovation.
