Halloween is a night of costumes and candy, with children roaming through neighborhoods in search for the perfect treat for their tastes.

This year, trick-or-treating will kick off at 6 p.m. Oct. 31 and end at 8 p.m. During that time frame, the 47th Security Forces Squadron, along with volunteers, will form the 'Goblin Patrol' to help keep trick-or-treaters safe and proved assistance as needed.

"Members of the Goblin Patrol should be aware that providing a safe environment is our primary goal," said Tech. Sgt. Edward Slaughter, 47th SFS NCO in charge of police services. "We want the children and their families to experience and enjoy the event safely."

The Goblin patrol will consist of 18 two-member foot patrols and three vehicle patrols to establish extra security in housing areas. There will also be a service and support station, and lost child collection point, at Ribas-Dominicci Circle.

"Come out and join us," said Slaughter, "It's going to be a fun night for all."

Additionally, the Youth Center will host the 'Trunk-or-Treating' Halloween event at the Youth Center from 6 to 8 p.m. The event offers parents and children another safe and controlled environment to trick-or-treat.

Volunteers will give out candy from the trunks of their vehicles in the Youth Center parking lot before ushering kids into the Youth Center to enjoy a variety of carnival games.
