LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Job title and unit: 85th Flying Training Squadron, unit standardization evaluation monitor

Why he XLed: Sheffer was the 85th Flying Training Squadron's point of contact for the Feds Feed Families campaign. He drove his squadron to collect 5,584 pounds of non-perishable goods that accounted for 50 percent of the 47th Flying Training Wing's total donation to a local food bank. He is also a trusted runway supervisory unit representative and has devoted more than 50 hours safeguarding a $1.1 billion fleet at one of the Air Force's busiest airfields.
