As the end of the year approaches, so does flu season, and the 47th Medical Group wants to help get Laughlin personnel ready for it.

"We are currently waiting on the arrival of the vaccinations, but as soon as they come in we will be ready to administer them to patients," said Timothy Lantgen, 47th MDG NCO in charge of immunizations. "We're looking at early to mid-October to start administering the vaccinations, and the Air Force's goal is to have 90 percent of active duty members vaccinated by Dec. 15."

The Laughlin medical clinic administers more than 2,700 flu vaccinations annually to keep Airmen healthy and ready for the mission.

"Everyone should get the flu vaccination because it's one step to take to help prevent the sickness," said Lantgen. "More importantly, it's vital to the mission that Airmen ensure they are vaccinated to stay healthy throughout the season.

The clinic will have vaccination tales set up periodically at the wing building, Anderson Hall and Losano Fitness Center. Members can also get their vaccination at the base clinic during normal operating hours after vaccinations arrive at Laughlin.

"Be sure to get your flu vaccination," said Capt. Joel Robinson, 47th Medical Operations Squadron family health provider. "If you don't, I'll remind you of the importance when I'm treating you."
