Laughlin is hosting a Volunteer Fair at Club XL July 29 from 3 to 5 p.m. to inform base members about volunteer opportunities in Del Rio.

The purpose of the fair is to better involve Laughlin Airmen with their local community.

"We know when people come here and get involved with the community, they have a much more enjoyable tour," said Joel Langton, an event coordinator. "We're putting this event together to prove that there are many organizations in Del Rio who encourage Laughlin members to get involved in their community."

When Airmen get to Laughlin, getting involved is key to is the easiest way to meet people.

"A lot of Laughlin Airmen are usually new to the area, and this is a great way for them to get involved in the community and get to know the people," said Manny Carrillo, Del Rio Lions Club secretary. "There are different organizations and services Del Rio can offer that people may not know about."

Several different organizations will attend the event, ranging from the Del Rio Council for the Arts to the Texas Veterans' Commission.

"The last volunteer fair was pretty successful," said Langton. "The fair saw more than 125 Laughlin members and we believe this fair will see even more members."
