Why he XLed: Young spearheaded the Air Force Center of Expertise contract analysis visit leveraging a high-impact capability at no cost to the 47th Flying Training Wing. He laid ground work for 20 percent cost-reduction effort, making Laughlin the first to take action to meet Air Education and Training Command commander and vice commander intent. Young also orchestrated an immediate $10,000 funding source for the Operations Group simulator universal power supply, enabling the wing's operational mission to continue without delay
