Thirty Team XL members volunteered for the San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District kindergarten through fifth grade science fair at the Del Rio Civic Center Feb. 6.

Out of the 50 volunteers, 30 of them were Laughlin members. The individuals participated in judging science fair projects for Del Rio students from the ages of five to 11, giving them the opportunity to interact with the children as they explained the procedures and conclusions of their experiments.

"I definitely enjoy taking advantage of the volunteering opportunities in Del Rio," said Airman 1st Class Matthew Booth, unit 47th Operations Support Squadron Aircrew Flight Equipment technician. "I learn a lot from it and enjoy interacting with the community."

For several years, Laughlin members have volunteered with the Del Rio Science Fair and they have done a wonderful job, explained Patricia Brown, Professional Development, Advance Academics, District UIL coordinator.

"The most significant thing about Laughlin and Del Rio is the partnership," said Roberto Fernandez, mayor of Del Rio, who was also a judge. "We are one community. Anytime the city needs volunteers, Laughlin jumps in at full force."
