Pike 47th Flying Trying Wing Public Affairs LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- This year, Military Saves Week is slated for Feb. 24 to March 1, and Laughlin's Airmen and Family Readiness Center will be hosting events across base throughout the week. Military Saves Week is a smaller part of the American Saves Campaign that focuses on military members and their families. The campaign can help build finances for an emergency fund, thrift-savings plan, home-buying, or working toward retirement. "This is a time the Department of Defense has set up to allow us to really focus on military members' and their family's finances," said Carla Rincones, A&FRC chief. "We like to think of this as a way to help promote resiliency as well by helping to keep members out of financial trouble." All week long the "I'm saving for a pledge" campaign will be at the base gym from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., explained Rincones. Other classes going on during the week are: Youth Financial Briefing- for School Aged Kids Feb. 25, starts 4 p.m. Youth Center Youth Financial Briefing- for Teenagers Feb. 26, starts 4 p.m. Youth Center Money & Love Feb. 27, from 11 a.m. to noon Airmen and Family Readiness Center Small Steps, Great Reward Feb. 28, from 11 a.m. to noon Airmen and Family Readiness Center "We see this as a privilege to participate in providing financial assistance to military members," said Ricardo Espinoza, A&FRC community readiness consultant.
