Christmas is just around the corner and the officer and enlisted spouses' clubs are dedicating their time in a joint effort to bring holiday cookies to single active duty members on Laughlin Dec. 12.

The annual Cookie Caper is hosted every December to provide airmen with something special over the holidays. Volunteers and donators bake cookies to be packaged and delivered to the dorms or centers of airmen.

Those baking and donating can drop off their cookies to be packaged and delivered Dec. 11 to the following locations on-base; 47 Arnold Blvd, 9018 Arnold Blvd, 9019 Arnold Blvd, and 8206A O'Brien, or off-base: 311 Boulder Ridge Dr. and 111 Saddle Blanket Dr.

There will not be coolers for cookies to be placed into, instead knock on the door and the resident will take the donation.

"On Dec. 12, from 7:30 to 10 a.m., cookies can be dropped off at the Laughlin Chapel Annex where the cookies will be packaged for delivery," said Gayle Peters, event coordinator. "Volunteers are welcome from 8 a.m. to noon to help with packaging and delivery."

The 2013 Cookie Caper looks to support more than 500 airmen with a goal of producing at least 6000 cookies packaged in bags decorated by local elementary school students.

Donated cookie should be home-baked to make the event more special, explained Peters.

"This is a great way to support our airmen and spread holiday cheer throughout the base," said Peters. "Especially for those who may not have an opportunity to go home or see family through the holidays."
