A burger burn was held by the 85th and 434th Flying Training Squadrons from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the gazebo behind the Student Squadron building today.

All the proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Feds Feed Families campaign to help support the local Del Rio Community.

The fundraiser had meals consisting of a burger, chips and a drink, as well as a dunk tank, and donut eating contest.

"We came up with the idea to help spread the news of the Campaign and to raise more donations," said Capt. William Dana, 85th FTS T-6 Texan II check flight instructor. "The campaign is a great cause to support."

Team XL surpassed its goal of 1,500 pounds of food and has reached 4,500 pounds in donated goods, not including monetary donations. The donations and proceeds from the burger burn fundraiser today will be included in Laughlin's donation to the Val Verde County Loaves and Fishes food bank.

"We still have a couple weeks left for donations," said Capt. Krissi Hrupek, 47th Flying Training Wing T-6 Texan flight safety officer and Feds Feed Families campaign coordinator. "I have no doubt that we can reach even our most recent goal of 4,700 pounds in donations."

The campaign ends on Aug. 23 when the donations will be weighed one last time before being sent to the food bank.

"This year was really successful, one of the best years for Laughlin," said Hrupek. "Let's strive to make next year's campaign even better!"
